Hi Lyndal, I've completed this quiz (and the others on your blog) as an aspiring medical student but currently practicing allied health with >10 years experience. I wonder if it's ever been studied at just how much medical knowledge non-doctors "absorb" by osmosis or pick up along their careers, and how their performance in standardised tests or MCQ quizzes like the ones you have published is comparable to medical students.
ReplyDeleteHaving scored pretty well in the published quizzes, I think there might be a good little study and article in this - sending a quiz at 1st year medical student level (a quiz where you would expect an MD1 to score >90% with some study?) to AHPs and collecting demographics such as profession, age, length of career, type of workplace, perceived amount of proximity to/interaction with doctors, and of course, quiz score.
I think the results would be interesting! If you think there is something in this, please reply and I will reach out via email un-anonymously.
This blog is an amazing resource!
